There is something mysterious that lives in this murky lake, hense the name. This lake is used for the Rite of Ascension by all Cormorants who wish to become Hunters.

a bright light appeared from high in the sky, and as it glew brighter, a faint yell was growing louder till a body dived head first into the lake.a small splash was made and after a few seconds wen he hit it, a body drifted to the shore, sporting a large bump on his head. to someone who wouldn't bother to check, he looked like he was dead, but to those who accually cared, he was sleeping. and he kept on, his tattered clothing floating up to the surface.

(From The Abyss)
Alighting in one of the many trees surrounding the lake, Visant scanned the area for the person he was looking for. Eventually, he spied a female avian with bright red wings, sitting in a tree a few yards way. Grinning, he flew over to hover in the air next to her.
"Clarion! It's great to see you again," he called, more of a joke than anything, because he had been exiled several decades before she herself had been exiled, and he didn't resemble what he used to look like much. "How's exile treating you?"

Vengeful Clarion made a low trilling sound and ruffled her feathers as her name was called. Her mad, wide eyes gazed around the skies for a while, before snapping downwards and spotting a silver-haired...Swan? And another odd-looking man with brown hair floating in the air next to him. She made a series of clicking noises, shifted on the brach and then dropped down, her bloody sword in hand. She wiped it on the grass beneath her, then took and offensive stance and glared at Visant.
"Who are you? What do you want?" She demanded. Her head tilted violently to the side quiet suddenly, and her wide eyes suddenly narrowed as she examined Visant. No, no, wasn't him. Couldn't be him. But the way his face curved, the twisted smirk was off and crooked, but the nose, and that stupid glove on only on hand...why, it just couldn't be, not...
"Gavrie?"

Mortechai watched Visant, and then the odd red-winged woman as they spoke, head turning towards them in turn. He snickered as the woman (apparently called Clarion) addressed Visant as Gavrie. What a funny name. Pretty, but didn't suit Visant at all. He wondered where she had gotten the name from, and examined Visant as he thought. Mortechai suddenly remembered he was a Lich, and his eyebrows leapt into his hairline.
He nearly fell right out of the sky laughing. Visant's real name; had it really been Gavrie?! How hysterical! He tried to imagine Visant having a personality to fit that name (he got the image of a timid little boy), and cracked up, holding his sides tightly. When he finally calmed himself, he wiped his eyes and stood--still in midair--with his hands held behind his back and a big grin plastered onto his face.

Visant narrowed his eyes slightly, but then they returned to normal. "Close, but not quite. I've changed, my name's changed. I'm Visant now." He didn't seem bothered by her mad appearance, or her scars, or that her wings were an unnatural color. What he did do, was turn back to look at Mortechai and rolled his eyes.
He turned back, slightly annoyed, and said, "I've got a proposition for you. I've set out to annhilate the Swans, for reasons I'm sure you're at least somewhat aware of, but I can't charge blindly in there by myself."

groaning as he woke, he managed to get to his feet and loked around. the last thing he remembered was talking with a friend of his when he suddenly blacked out. looking at Visant, Clarion and Mortechai, he assumed they were natives andwalked towards them. seeing as he was outnumbered, he kept his left handin his robe to keep his chain flail in reach. he blinked and said "excuse me, but i was wondering if either of you knew where i am?" he was looking like a soaked cat, but he didn't care.

Visant spun around, inwardly debating whether he should just annihalate Vince on spot, but then thought better of it when he saw that Vince was an offworlder. Besides, he wasn't sure whether he had any connections to the...good of Beyond, so to speak. "Beyond. Corbettes Du Mer--Lac Mistique specifically," he said, still hovering in the air. Despite his very convincing politeness now, although he was only polite for selfish reasons, he was annoyed that his former negotions had been interrupted.

thinking, he sitsin the water and says "i've been here before for a wedding........i wonder if my brother's mate Avenger is here" he gets up and extends his hand "Vincent Gumai, Earth guardian" he smiles. he was obviously more oblivious than his other family members. he pulled out his left hand from his robe and his tail twitched side to side in a calm state.

"I'm sure she probably is," he said, attempting to maintain his polite front, even though he was seriously getting annoyed with whoever this was. He looked at Vince's hand, as if at first he wasn't sure what to do, but then shook it. "Antoine," he replied, making sure to use neither his name nor his former name. After all, he didn't need more publicity right now than was absolutely necessary.

Mortechai regarded Vincent first with distaste, then looked bored. "Mortechai, Chancellor of Hell." He said, in turn, and bowed in midair. He didn't need to hide his name; he wasn't a statuary figure in Beyond. He could and would come and go as he pleased, so making an alias would be pointless. Especially after that lovely fiasco with the Winter celebration.

nodding, he said "thanks for the inf-" and stopped. he sniffed the air and walked in the direction of the cormorant village, distracted by the smell of fish. after his mind registered it was seafood, he lept into a tree and began to hop from branch to branch, out of sight in only four jumps.

After Vince left, he muttered under his breath, "Finally!" Visant looked back at Clarion and asked, "Now, about my proposition. I'm proposing a joint operation with you, myself, and anyone else I can find to destroy the Swans. Would you be interested?" The last question was more of a pleaantry rather than an actual question. He knew she'd do anything to kill her sister, and coincidentially, that would make his task a lot easier.

Clarion glared at Mortechai suspiciously as he laughed, then looked back at Visant, one of her eyes twitching. She contemplated his offer, eyes looking at the sky as though her answers were there. They finally came back down to meet Visant in an eerily similar stare, and she nodded shortly. "Fine. But I get to kill Yseult--don't even THINK of touching her. She's mine." She warned, gritting her sharp teeth.

Visant held his hands up. "Of course not--I was intending to leave that to you, Clarion, for I know you hate her even more than I do." His hands fell to his side. "I'll be happy with merely the Swans' destruction." He looked back at Mortechai, "And Mortechai will be here so long as he's interested."
