Striker woke up in her quarters, a little queasy and more than a little baffled. What the heck was she doing here? Seemed she was outside, with someone...nah. She must have been dreaming. Anyway, she figured she'd better head to the palace and see if Subtle needed any help getting things ready for the Fall Hunt. She grinned to herself as she strapped her swords to her back; this year, she was going to bag a LOT of Raiders, or her name wasn't Striker Renegade.

Bjorn comes to, standing outside Striker's home. his last memory was telling her that he loved her, and she thought him playing a joke. he also has a red rose in his hand as well. "Well i suppose its time to make it known beyond the shadow of any doubt." he says aloud as if he were trying to gather his courage. and he then knocks soundly upon the door.

Striker isn't startled by the knock, since she could hear someone coming from aways away. When she heard Bjairn's voice, saying something aloud he probably meant to keep to himself, she was curious, and went to the door. Opening it, she leaned on the jamb. "Something I can do for you, General Bjorn?" She flashed a grin at him, not knowing why, but damned glad to see him, as if it'd been too long. Shaking herself mentally, she chalked it up to that weird sensation of being out of place.

Bjorn flushes red from embarassment. he3 hands her the rose, and smiles, "Im so glad to see you, i just was here to talk to you and tell you a few things might we step inside, its a little nippy out here.' he smiles brightly just admireing her figure, and getting lost in her eyes.

Blinking a bit, she's unsettled by the rose, so her grin fades. She's not sure why he's so glad to see her, but the feeling is damned sure mutual. He's got something wrong with his eyes, she thinks. Never having been one to pick up on things like flirting, being flirted with or being admired, she had no clue he was losing himself in her eyes. It was a bit chilly, so she nodded and moved out of the way so he could come in. "Sure, come on in, just leave your boots at the door." She'd picked up a Terran habit of not wearing shoes in the house, slipping some thick soft shoes on instead when she got inside. She handed him a pair that ought to fit, and went into the main area of her lodge, looking for something to put the rose in.

He carefully and deftly removes his shoes, and slips the shoes she hands him on one by one still holding the rose wondering why she hasent accepted it. He gathers his courage again, after he gets inside. "Wow it feels much better in here." he then turns to her. "Would you rather i put this in a vase for you?, also i have come to ask you something , and to tell you something as well, that is if you have the time General Striker."

She comes back with a pretty glass vase she'd made one day out of a piece of sand that had been struck by lightning on the beach. She'd carved it with her talons, and it was a nice compliment to the rose he'd brought. "I was just getting something to put this in, thank you." She took the rose and snipped the end with a talon, then set it in the vase and put the vase on her mantle. "Come on in next to the fire, it's getting pretty cold these days." She motioned for him to join her on the fur rug on the floor, since she didn't have much in the way of chairs. "What's on your mind?"

If the look on her face could have been seen by someone at the same time as the look on Jasmine's face when James had told her he loved her, it would be noted that their expressions were one and the same. Only Jasmine had been expecting it; this smacked Striker as surely as if Bjorn had reached out and struck her. He what? Loved her? Since when?? She had no clue in the world that he even ever saw her as more than a general of the special ops, let alone as a woman. She hardly knew what to think, other than the random thought that she was glad she was sitting down when he told her. Supremely puzzled, she hardly knew what to say. For the first time in a long time, she was at a loss. "Well you uh...that is, I...but how..." Raider bait. Sighing, she tried to pull herself together and form a coherent sentence. "How long...how long have you been in love with me? I mean...I had no clue." Surely not the answer he hoped for, but she had to know. Sharp as she was, how could she not have seen this coming?

Bjorn sighs sadly. "For the love of my Son, Bjairn, i didnt want him to feel i was trying to replace his mother, that i didnt love him as much, But Striker, i hid it for these reasons and these reasons alone, it was not fear of rejection by you, but rejection by my own son, but i feel he is old enough now, and i have loved you for over two years now, i am rather adept at keeping my mouth shut and my feelings on lockdown until i feel the time is appropriate, and with you being the special operations army general, im sure you can relate. He sighs again. He then looks back at the fire. "But it is true Striker." and then looks back into her eyes."i love you and no other."

She nodded absently, lost in her sudden lack of faith in her own powers of observation. If she was so sloppy that she didn't see a single sign of this all these years... she shook her head. Here the poor fellow was laying his heart out on the line, and to her of all people, and she was worrying about herself. She smiled a bit at him, considering how she felt about him. She'd always admired him as a soldier, always thought him a good father and a good man. Come to think of it, she'd rarely found fault in him, other than he was a tad on the quiet side. How in Beyond had he managed to fall for someone like her??
"It's important that our children are at ease with our choice in life partners, as it will ultimately affect them as well, but it does not do to let them rule our hearts in matters of love." That was all she could think to say about Bjairn. She knew the lad was good and brave, and that he was fairly sweet on the Queen's eldest daughter. She knew that if she were to tell Jasmine that Bjorn...so weird, saying that without his rank... if she were to tell her that he'd proclaimed love for her, Jasmine would be thrilled, especially if they ended up marrying, since that would give her an older brother. She'd always wanted a sibling, Striker could tell by the way she acted around the Hatchlings and Fledglings. Sighing softly, she let go of the hardcore general bit for a moment and as a woman considered what Bjorn had told her. Truth be told, she admired more than his ability as a leader, a soldier of the realm, a father. She'd always thought him rather handsome, though she'd never breathed a word of that aloud, and she never minded working with him. Was that love? It had been so long since she'd loved anyone, and that had ended badly. She didn't fear love, and all that came with it, but she did fear that she no longer recognized love, or knew how to reciprocate it.
Sighing, she decided honesty was the better part of valor. Reaching out to take his hand, she said, "Bjorn, you honor me with your declaration of love. You were right not to fear my rejection. I am no one to fear, despite the face I show the men. I appreciate the fact that you've finally come to tell me that you love me..." she choked a bit on the word love, and swallowed hard, trying to think of how best to say this. "It has been so long since I loved anyone, and it ended so badly..." No one in Beyond knew the circumstances of Jasmine's birth, and the details of the father's involvement with Striker were just as hazy, and there was good reason for that. As near as she could remember, no one alive knew that. Could she trust Bjorn with the truth, one she hadn't even told her daughter?

Bjorn nods. He understands far better than she knows. "Well, i would be lieing if i said i didnt have a few reservations about coming to you about this." He smiles to her as she takes his hand. "It has been a long time for me, and mine didnt exactly end the best either, Bjairn's mother, every year on her birthday, we both light a candel for her." He doesent press, he decides she will say whatever she has too when the time is right, he however, has gotten the answer he sought, and though this hurts him, he doesent show it in the slightest bit. once more he hides the pain behind a warm kind smile.

Striker winces a bit at the mention of their honoring his wife. His marriage might have ended badly, but for a far different reason. The only thing they had in common on that point was that their spouses had died leaving them with young children to raise. She sees right through his smile, and can't blame him for being hurt. Her left hand went to her chin, slowly sliding down to scratch her neck, deep in thought. Let's see just how much he really thinks he loves me, she says to herself sadly. With that, she proceeds to tell him what she has only ever told one other person, the story of her first husband, and Jasmine's birth.
Releasing his hand, she sits Lotus style, and looks down at her hands. "A lot of people knew and admired my father and brothers when they were alive, and they thought of them as being the driving force behind my becoming the general I am today. That's part of the story, but a lot of people weren't aware just how cruel my brothers used to be. They tormented me mercilessly, and my father either didn't know or didn't care how badly. I turned to the military, bound and determined to beat them at their own game." She falters, unsure whether or not she can continue.

Roland walked from the distance, making an all too familiar trek. It was to the lodge. HER lodge. As familiar as it was, something seemed out of the ordinary. Shaking it off, he takes a slow step forward, accompanying it with a deep breath. His eyes closing slowly, his hand reaches for the knob. 'Should I knock?' was the first thought that came to his mind, as odd as it may seem. He almost chuckled out loud at the thought, realizing that though it was not his home, he'd spent a good amount of time inside those walls, and that he should be allowed in freely. But then again, knowing Striker, if he were to just walk in, she would not hesitate to label him as an intruder and murder him without a second glance. Deciding that he'd rather stay conscious today, he placed on hand on the knob of the door, the other gently knocking.

Even though the knock was gently, it was completely unexpected (though truth be told, it was also a relief). Startled, her wings flexed, and she called out, "Who goes there?" She wasn't expecting a visitor, but maybe the Queen had sent a messenger. The person on the other side of the door had a very familiar scent, but she couldn't quite place it. She knew it wasn't a threat, or she'd have had the door open and their guts for garters by now.
