Name: Variance Aquillian
Age: 248
Gender: Female
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 75lbs
Race: Avariel
Eyecolor: Violet
Personality: Like most Avariels, Variance is rather condescending to most creatures unable to fly, loyal to those that earn her respect, as well as being rather vein, and is just stubborn enough for it to be healthy. However, unlike most, she if far from always chipper, she seems to be a little frigid around strangers, often keeping to herself. Variance has realised and is trying to overcome her haughty attitude to others, but still comes across as a little aloof.
Abilities: Being born as an Avariel, Variance has a few innate tricks up her sleeve, such as flight with a pair of black feathered birdlike wings, extraordinarily keen sight and hearing, the ability to conceal her wings in non-existence and recall them with a click of her fingers, the ability to conjure a 40” longsword out of mentally charged superheated plasma (That doesn’t burn her hand obviously). She has also undergone training in the Avariel bladesong, enhancing her magical and martial powers, as well as allowing her to summon her giant eagle. She has also recently learned how to speak the language of the eagles. She is quite strong being able to wield her longsword easily with a single arm. Her marksman ship is easily comparable to most other Avariels, accuracy was very, very important when trying to bypass draconic scales. She has been focusing on destroying magic and making resistant creatures more vulnerable to spells and have managed to imbue this power through her weapons.
History: Being born before the crown wars, Variance was, like most of the other Avariel, was mercilessly hunted by the dragons who had dominated her world. Barely surviving one such attack, she was left for dead by a black dragon, perhaps because it wasn’t hungry. She was later found by one of the Illefarn elves who had helped her to recover, eventually she decided to help them to deal with the draconic tyrants, she was then trained in the art of the bladesong before being placed in a campaign against them, somehow she managed to live through all of these, although retreating was often required, her unit knew nothing of attrition, seeing what others might see as courage as simply a lack of imagination, and as it turns out they were right. Eventually, in a losing battle to delay the dragons long enough to trigger one of the elven mythales she ended up caught in a temporal planar rift. This sent her into a completely different plane, during which she found herself caught up in some weird situation about how to prevent an army of planar creatures from invading and taking over the place, unfortunately she got lost, to find a portal taking her to an entirely different planet.
Equipment:
Weapons:
Serendipity: A 42” longsword forged from Avariel glassteel. It is transparent and nearly invisible when not enchanted, while enchanted by the bladesong a deadly poison is excreted from the blade, paralysing for a few seconds almost any creature that it enters the bloodstream of. Serendipity was given its name due to the poison, for the enchantment just happened to react with the slight residue of the poisons Variance had been applying to it over the years.
Plasma Blade: Well, this is more of a spell, but with a snap of her fingers Variance is able to form a longsword of superheated magical plasma, it stays indefinitely but prevents her from casting spells as her entire magical strength is focused on maintaining the weapon.
Battle Gauntlet: A glassteel gauntlet fitting around her left hand and forearm.
Ruin’s Edge: A magical bow she picked up from her adventures in the other world, it is a recurve bow formed from yew, it adjusts itself to fit the strength and stature of the archer and generates a random enchantment from these two effects and passes this enchantment onto the arrow fired.
-Electrical Jolt: A jolt of electrical power travels along the arrow sending a electrical potential difference of 500V, a current of 200A and a charge of 800C (I think that works)
-Numbness: The arrow causes a creature struck’s body to go numb and unable to work for the next 10 seconds.
Steel Headed Arrows: Steel headed needle arrows fletched with feathers from a variety of different birds. Stored in a quiver on her hip designed to hold them in place unless a very deliberate tug is made on them to prevent them from falling out during flight. Currently has 81.
Dead Magic Poison: This poison when entering a creature’s bloodstream renders them unable to cast spells or use any innate magical abilities for the next minute, after this time they may be used but are much more tiring, the fatigue caused by using them decreases over time until it reaches a negligible effect five minutes after. Variance currently has enough poison for ten applications to her blade, but after that finding her usual ingredients might be a problem.
Armour: Generally a fibre vest containing hardened overlapping ceramic and titanium plating in a scale like design worn over a set of boiled leather full body armour designed to disperse force and enchanted to withstand claws, although it does a good job with blades as well.
Shoes: A pair of boiled leather boots.
Dress: None
Capes: None (They’re a little too small to keep out the cold...)
Belts: A leather belt fastened with tarnished silver. Contains a variety of pouches and weapon sheaths.
Pants: A pair of black, thin, soft leather pants.
Costume: None.
Misc.:
Shirt: A black cotton/wool shirt.
Cloak: A thick scarlet woollen cloak that looks as if it would offer decent protection from cold, it can be fastened around her body during flight.
Pet: One Dove that seems to follow her around (Pretty lucky dove if it’s still alive...).
Hat: A wide brimmed black travelling hat, it carries an interesting enchantment causing it to expand into a 20ft radius by 15ft high cylindrical extra dimensional space when it is laid on the floor with the opening facing upwards and the word for open in the Avariel’s language is spoken.
