Subtle watched him go, then opened an extremely old but still powerful pocket in the universe. She stored things there that she might need no matter where she was, so she could have easy access to it whenever she needed without having to be in her bedroom in Beyond. Half the time, she forgot she even had this pocket, so it tended to have MANY usefull things, beyond what she had originally sought. This time, though, she knew exactly what was in there, and carefully, she withdrew a wooden chalice filled with sweet smelling crystalized pine tar. She pulled out a conch shell, and prepared for ceremony.
Her headress was a silver crown that had the face of a Thunderbird molded on the front, and had pheasant and quetzacoatl feathers streaming from the left and right temples all the way back to below her ears. She had silver arm bands that had the appearance of limbless Dragons, and her ankles sported thick leather cuffs that had seed pods the size of one's eye sewn to it, and an image of a Thunderbird molded in silver on the front. Her tunic was a black velvet sheathe, slit in the sides up to mid thigh, and had a square cut collar. She wore an ornamental collar over the tunic, and it was beaten silver on leather, engraved with all manner of Thunderbird runes, symbols and glyphs. As a whole, she not only looked like the Queen of power she was, but she was given special Thunderbird magic that few Avians outside their clutch was ever even able to witness, much less use.
Quietly chanting "Impetus Fuegus," she lit the pine tar, then smudged the room and the general direction of the other rooms, then the four directions, mother earth, father sky, and lastly set the chalice on the floor, and smudged the conch shell before blowing it, loud and steady in all four directions, then to Mother earth, and Father sky. She set the conch next to the smouldering chalice, and began to draw on all her powers as the most formiddable force in Beyond.
As it had in the ballroom of Ormrland's palace, the light from the Nest began to flow towards her, a sort of reverse flash. The more her power built, the darker the house appeared to grow as she channeled every tiny bit of light from the house into a black, crackling ball of energy in her hand. The intent this time was not to destroy an enemy, but to weaken the hold the memories this place held over her family. She drew the ball towards her chest, and it looked as though she'd implode if she took it into her, but take it in she did. She rose into the air, her pods rattling and the silver wingless dragon armbands came alive, slithering along her arms as her toes brushed the conch shell on the ground. Impossibly, the entire Nest appeared to be sucked into the black not light, and funneled into her through her chest. Her body shook like she was truly going to implode, but at the last moment, she was shot to the ground as if she'd been smacked down by a giant invisible hand. On her knees, her head shot up towards, and as she, the shell and the chalice rattled on the dirt where her Nest once stood, pure white light poured from her eyes, nose and mouth, as if she were regurgitating the newly transformed energy of the Nest and everything in it towards the heavens. Finally, after long minutes of light pouring from her core, she collapsed on the ground, cradling her chalice and shell as the light that had shot into the air exploded like Terran fireworks, showering the ground around them with pure life force. Even as it touched her, the foundling energy renewed her strength, and she eventually rose. This place would never harm anyone ever again with its terribly painfull memories. The energy even regrew the grass where the Nest had once stood; a small part of her smiled, knowing Flowers would like that idea. Gathering her shell and chalice, Subtle opened a portal to her palace. It was time to start a new day, as mother and Queen of Ormrland.
